About FattMans

A running club for the rest of us

Most running clubs are built for people who already run. FattMans is the opposite. We are here for the beginners, the returners, the nervous, the out-of-puff and the “I haven’t exercised since school” crowd. If that sounds like you, you have found your people.

How it started

FattMans began with a simple idea: that getting fit shouldn’t mean feeling left behind. Too many of us have stood at the back of a class or a club feeling like everyone else got a head start.

So we made a place where the back of the pack is the best seat in the house. Where turning up in your oldest t-shirt is perfectly fine. Where the only expectation is that you are kind to yourself and to each other.

We are proudly Wellesbourne’s newest running club — and quite possibly its friendliest. Whatever your reason for wanting to move more, we would love to help you get going.

What we believe

The promises we make to every single member.

No judgement zone

Nobody here is checking your pace, your kit or your size. We genuinely could not care less — we just want you to feel good.

Community over competition

We are neighbours, friends and total beginners cheering each other on. The only thing we race is the kettle afterwards.

Chat is mandatory, running is optional

If you can hold a natter while you move, you are doing it exactly right. Walking breaks are not just allowed — they are encouraged.

Small steps, big wins

Got off the sofa and turned up? That is a victory in our book. We celebrate every single one of them.

“You are not too unfit, too slow, or too late. You are exactly the person this club was made for.”
